Deborah Taylor

Deborah was born in the north of England, living in different areas of the UK as a child. Deborah is married with one daughter and has lived in Anstey for over 17 years, with her husband Paul and their two rescue dogs, Duke and Bliss.

Since moving to Anstey, Deborah served on Anstey Parish Council for 8 years, most of that time as Vice-Chairman. Deborah has represented Anstey on Charnwood Borough Council since first being elected in May 2015. During that time, Deborah was a member of the Cabinet serving as Lead Member for Communities, Wellbeing and Safety from May 2019 to July 2021, when Deborah stepped down from the Cabinet to take on a new and exciting role at Leicestershire County Council. 

Deborah represents the Bradgate Division as a Leicestershire County Councillor at County Hall. She was first elected to the County Council in May 2017 and quickly rose up to be the Cabinet Support member for Children and Families Service and Community Safety in May 2019. 

In July 2020, Deborah was rewarded for her hard work by being appointed to a more senior role in the Cabinet as Lead Member for Children and Families Service and Community Safety. Deborah has taken on this important role during the Coronavirus pandemic and has worked incredibly hard at this role since being appointed. She has gained a huge amount of experience during this time and is able to deal with all issues. She is highly visible in Anstey and her Bradgate Division and has involved herself in a large variety of work during that time. 

In 2021, Deborah was appointed to the role of Chair of Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland Police and Crime Panel.

Deborah has made a big difference to residents’ well-being, dealing with individual issues and large scale housing developments.

Deborah is keen to continue her good work and by working closely with her fellow Anstey Borough Councillor, Cllr Paul Baines and Cllr David Snartt, who represents the other villages within her Bradgate division, she continues to work hard, supporting residents and campaigning on important issues.
