Leicester & Leicestershire Neighbourhood Watch Association have recently set up a Community Speedwatch account which we will look at covering the whole of the Charnwood area alongside the North West Leicestershire area.
They are looking for as many members to be involved as possible as this will help to reduce speeding in the areas where we live. This is a voluntary role.
Volunteers will be provided with mobile speed guns and record the speed of motorists and all this information will then be sent to the police, if there are repeat offenders or multiple issues with speeding this will enable the local police to enforce a speed camera in the location to issue penalties to those drivers caught flouting the speed limit.
Members who wish to be involved sign up for the system and then as a group, they will discuss the roads that they wish to cover. All the speed guns and equipment needed will be provided.
Full training will be given and there is a short health & safety and conduct training which all members will have to complete before they are added to the speed watch system. Once completed you will be added to the system to start Community Speed watch in your area.
Should you wish to get involved in this please contact [email protected]
If you need any further information please contact Deborah, Paul or David.
