There is new planning application proposed for 150 houses to the rear of existing properties off Markfield Lane, Newtown Linford.
This is in addition to the 93 houses proposed on Leicester Road on the other side of the A50 roundabout.
David says:
“This is yet another parcel of countryside land within Newtown Linford Parish that developers are proposing to build upon. In my view, this latest proposal would not integrate well with the two nearest villages of Newtown Linford and Markfield. Therefore, the 150 dwellings will be detached from both villages and not be part of the two communities. This proposal, in the countryside, would be an unsympathetic development, which would be detrimental to the character of this part of Charnwood Forest, not relating to existing adjacent development, which is mainly low density ribbon development. This proposal would cause a substantial change to the appearance of this site within the countryside, to the detriment of nearby ancient woodland, trees and wildlife. This proposal is unsustainable with the car being the preferred option to travel to essential services and retail shops”.
Deborah says:
“The traffic produced from this site will have a huge impact on the area. This is a quiet lane and the increase in traffic trying to filter onto Markfield Lane will be hugely detrimental. Due to the location of this site it is very likely that there will be a heavy reliance on the private car. This proposed application makes no reference to Newtown Linford and the existing local community there and will have no connection to the village or to the nearby village of Markfield”.
David, Deborah and Edward Argar have submitted their comments to Charnwood Borough Council and can be seen at the end of this post.
