As we reported previously, the Examination of Charnwood's Local Plan had been adjourned by the Inspector, due to a significant change in circumstances to what was previously submitted to them.
The hearing sessions that were programmed from 12 July 2022 onwards were postponed. During the Matter 1 hearing session on 28 June 2022, Charnwood Council confirmed that it would, in principle, be willing to accommodate Charnwood’s apportionment of Leicester’s unmet housing need, as set out in the Leicester & Leicestershire Authorities - Statement of Common Ground relating to Housing and Employment Land Needs (April 2022) (Exam 15). As this represented a significant change in circumstances compared with the submitted Plan which proposed that unmet housing need would be dealt with through a Plan review, the Inspectors have written to the Council outlining their intended next steps.
