Members of the new Mid-Leicestershire Conservative Association have selected Peter Bedford as their Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for the next General Election.
This is due to the 2023 review by the Boundary Commision for the next General Election which involves changes to our existing area.
Mr Peter Bedford, currently the Leicestershire County Councillor for Markfield, Desford & Thornton, within the new Constituency, beat off rivals David Jeffery and Mark Dormer to snatch the nomination on the first ballot.
The meeting held at the Rothley Centre was chaired by Baroness Morgan of Cotes.
Speaking after his selection Peter said:
“It’s a real honour to be selected as the Conservative Party Candidate for Mid-Leicestershire.
Having served as a County Councillor in the area, for the last six years, I have real insights into the issues facing residents.
As a local myself I am passionate that Leicestershire has a strong and vocal voice at Westminster”
